I have been dedicated to supporting pregnancy and birth since 2004. After the birth of my first baby with the guidance of a midwife, I felt that every pregnant person should feel so well cared for and supported during this life transition. I began as a childbirth educator but soon realized that my heart was in midwifery. I initially became credentialed as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) to build a strong foundation in normal, physiologic birth. I built a practice that balanced knowledge, skill, caring, and service. I attended hundreds of community births before pursuing nurse-midwifery education.
I'm a Certified Professional Midwife and NJ Licensed Midwife, a former science educator, and unschooling mother of two: Luca, 22, and Havilah, 10. I met my partner Nick in college, and we’ve been married for 23 years. In that time, we’ve made many homes and had many adventures in New York City, the Catskills, and Paris before finally settling in beautiful… New Jersey! My journey to midwifery began with the birth of my own son in 2000 at the first free-standing birth center in the nation, the Elizabeth Seton Childbearing Center in New York City. I had not been raised in a culture of natural birth - I’d never even seen a birth! In fact, the first child I ever saw breastfeeding was my own. But I sought out the care of midwives because I knew I wanted to birth my baby on my own terms. And after experiencing the transformative power of natural, midwife-supported birth, I wanted everyone to have that opportunity...
